Health Ministry reports lowest daily virus diagnoses in over month and a half with just 29 new cases

COVID-19 death tally reaches 232 as three more Israelis succumb to disease; further decline in number of serious patients and patients on ventilators; 9,749 have recovered so far

Only 29 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Israel in the last 24 hours, the lowest daily number of diagnoses in over a month and a half, the Health Ministry reported Sunday evening.

  • Since the onset of the pandemic in the country, 16,208 Israelis have contracted the deadly pathogen, while 232 patients have succumbed to COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus.

    Among the latest victims is a 79-year-old woman who passed away at Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot.
    She was a resident of a geriatric center in the nearby town of Ness Ziona and was said to have been suffering from underlying health conditions.
    Of the latest number, 94 patients are hospitalized in serious condition, 11 fewer than 24 hours earlier, with 76 patients receiving respiratory assistance, 6 fewer than the same time the day before, and 69 patients are in moderate condition and the rest exhibit only mild to no symptoms at all.
    The Health Ministry said there are 6,227 people currently infected with the pathogen, while 9,749 have recovered from the disease.

    A total of 294 people currently being treated in hospitals, while 5,933 are battling the virus at home or at specially designated hotels.
    5,815 tests were conducted today, similar to yesterday’s total, but nearly half the number from two days ago.
