Due to Extreme Weather: Fire Ban Issued - Including Independence Day

Israel Fire and Rescue Services announced that due to extreme weather conditions, lighting bonfires and fires is prohibited nationwide from today until midnight May 7 - including during Independence Day this week. "Due to extreme conditions that increase the likelihood of fires breaking out and spreading, Fire and Rescue Commissioner, Chief Fire Officer Eyal Caspi, has signed the prohibition order," the statement said. Additionally, it was stated that "lighting fires in open areas is prohibited, and barbecuing is only permitted in designated areas approved by local authorities."
