Zehava Ben-Simon, whose daughter Lt. Adar Ben-Simon fell at Zikim base on Oct 7, addressed the IDF investigation findings about the battle in conversation with ynet studio. 'There was an indescribable heroic battle there, beyond belief,' she said. '20-year-old soldiers put about 120 recruits in a shelter and went out to fight, defending the base with their bodies, and it was the only one that wasn't captured - thanks to those fighters and thanks to my Adar and her friends.' According to her, 'The base commander should have been there that morning, like many others. That was essentially the failure there. But with all the terrible tragedy that happened to us, I can somehow understand him too.'
