U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo congratulated Bolivia on renewing diplomatic relations with Israel on Monday.
Pompeo also congratulated the Bolivian transitional government on its actions to strengthen ties with other democratic countries around the world, adding that the upcoming elections in the country would be free and fair.
The resumption of relations between Bolivia and Israel was made possible by the end of the reign of former hostile President Abu Morales, who was alleged to have been involved in falsifying the results of the previous elections.
