The Southern District Prosecution in Be'er Sheva has indicted eleven men on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in the gang rape of a 16-year-old in the southern resort town of Eilat earlier August.
Four of the suspects face charges of rape and the rest were hit with charges of indecent assault, abetting a rape, criminal conspiracy and failure to prevent a crime.
The prosecution asked the court to put the details of the indictment under embargo.
According to details from the investigation Police published on Tuesday,
The 16-year-old arrived in Eilat on August 10 with several friends to a condo the group rented.
The victim and her friends arrived at the Red Sea Hotel in Eilat to visit male friends staying at the location.
The victim, reportedly, first met the main suspect - with whom she had no previous acquaintance - at the hotel pool where he made romantic advances toward her, which were rejected, saying he was too old.
The suspect refused to let go and waited for the victim along with another friend in the room where her male friends were staying.
The girl later arrived at the room inebriated after consuming alcohol. The victim said she felt unwell and asked to leave the room and wash her face.
Police say the main suspect and his friend waited for her down the hallway and one of them introduced himself as a doctor who could help her.
The men her to room number 216 which is reserved for shuttle drivers who come to the hotel to rest after long journeys. Then, according to the suspicion, they began assaulting the victim.
Over the next hour and a half, at least 16 adults and minors were seen gathering outside the room, with some encouraging each other to go inside, police said.
At least two of them allegedly entered the room and assaulted the victim as well. The girl's friend came to the room and tried to help her, but the main suspect and his friend urged her to leave.
According to police, on the following day the girl was unable to remember what had happened and only began to suspect she had been assaulted when she received text messages from two of the men involved, detailing what had happened and indicating that they had phone camera video footage of the incident.
Together with her friend, she then immediately went to police.
The manager of the hotel was also questioned and placed under arrest last week on suspicion of failing to prevent a crime and interfering in a police investigation. She was later released on house arrest, and there is no immediate indication whether or not she will face charges
