Settler youth indicted for hate crimes against Palestinians

    According to the indictment, the defendant and seven others arrived in the early morning hours at the Palestinian village of Sarta in the northern West Bank, all wearing face masks and armed with stun grenades, large stones, and a sharp instrument.
    The group threw the stun grenades into two homes as Palestinian families slept inside, hurled stones at four others and vandalized three vehicles - breaking their windshields and puncturing their tires.

    As a result of the attack, a 61-year-old Palestinian man sustained a head wound from broken glass and head to be evacuated for medical treatment. His 17-year-old daughter also suffered a serious anxiety attack, dizziness and confusion from the incident.
    A pregnant Palestinian woman in one of the homes attacked was also treated for shock and felt unwell for a number of days afterward.

    The defendant is indicted on charges of conspiracy to commit a racially motivated crime, aggravated battery, carrying a weapon, attempted destruction of property using explosives, deliberate damage to a vehicle as and other crimes.
    Prosecutors said that the suspect who committed the alleged crimes will he was placed under house arrest.
