Hamas spokesman in Gaza Fawzi Barhoum says the new escalation on the border - which began with rocket fire from the Strip that was followed by an IDF airstrike - was down to Israel.
"The Israeli occupation is the prime responsible for everything that happens in Gaza as it continues to blockade it and carry out attacks. The resistance is only acting in self-defense," Barhoum said.
