Violent protests near Ramallah
On Monday, a Border Patrol officer took a direct hit from a firebomb hurled at him near Hebron, when Palestinian rioters protesting the Trump peace plan clashed with troops.
The Palestinians have rejected the plan for the Middle East unveiled last week by U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House.
The plan stipulates a demilitarized Palestinian state will be established on 70% of the West Bank and Israel will extend its sovereignty over the Jordan Valley and all Jewish settlements in the disputed territory.
Demonstrations have been taking place daily in Palestinian areas since the plan was revealed.
Security cooperation between the IDF and the Palestinian Authority continues despite comments by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas who rejected the plan outright at an Arab League emergency meeting in Cairo on Saturday.
Abbas has vowed to halt all cooperation with Israel and the United States due to the plan, which he called "nonsnse.
“We are informing you that there will be no relations with you [Israel] and the United States, including on security cooperation,” Abbas announced, adding that Israel will have to “bear responsibility as an occupying power.”
