Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Friday in a speech broadcast at U.S. President Joe Biden's climate summit that Israel is committed to switching from fossil fuels to renewable energy by 2050.
"Barring unforeseen circumstances, within four years from today — that is, until 2025 — there will be no more coal burning in Israel," the premier said. "We have set a goal for ourselves that by the end of the current decade we will generate more than a third of our electricity through renewable energy."
