Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) reported on Monday a sharp rise in autism diagnoses among children, with prevalence increasing from 4.7 cases per 1,000 children born in 2000 (aged 23 in 2023) to 28.3 cases per 1,000 children born in 2018 (aged five in 2023).
The data, released ahead of World Autism Awareness Day, highlights the growing recognition of autism spectrum disorders (ASD).
