President Isaac Herzog met with a delegation of Democratic U.S. Senators, headed by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), at the President’s Residence Thursday night.
Joining the delegation were Senator Peter Welch (D-VT), Senator Gary Peters (D-MI), Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA), Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), Senator Jack Reed (D-RI), Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR), and U.S. Ambassador to Israel Tom Nides.
President Herzog thanked the delegation for their unwavering support of Israel, including through funding for the Iron Dome anti-missile defense system and in the struggle against Iran and its nuclear program, which he called "the core threat to the region."
In their conversation, the president also underscored the importance of the unbreakable bond between Israel and the United States of America, based on shared values.
