The U.S. State Department has informed Congress of its intention to approve an $8 billion weapons package for Israel, according to a report by The New York Times. The package, which might be the last during President Joe Biden's term, is expected to include artillery shells, small-diameter bombs, munitions for fighter jets and helicopters, and GPS guidance systems for bombs. According to the report, based on information from the State Department's office responsible for arms transfers, many of the weapons are not intended for immediate use but will enter production, with delivery potentially taking years.
