Senior Israeli journalists were called on Thursday to testify in an investigation known as Qatargate, ahead of a court hearing on extending the detention of Eli Feldstein, former spokesperson for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Jonathan Urich, a close adviser to the prime minister.
Among those summoned to testify at Israel’s Lahav 433 national crime unit are Suleiman Maswadeh of Kan News and Nir Dvori of Keshet News.
Police are seeking a seven-day extension of the suspects’ detention. Law enforcement sources say the two are suspected of conveying messages on behalf of security and political officials while allegedly posing as representatives acting on behalf of Qatar.
