The Beersheba District Court sentenced Mohammed Masri, a resident of the town of Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza, to seven and a half years in prison. Masri was involved with Hamas until 2022.
According to the amended indictment, Masri participated in two military training sessions conducted by Hamas’s military wing in 2017, after which he was appointed as a foot soldier. In 2021, he underwent advanced training and was designated a Nukhba operative — an elite unit within Hamas.
He was arrested in Israel in August 2023 after attempting to cross the border fence from Gaza. The court also imposed a fine of 5,000 shekels.
