A leading Israeli business coalition representing around 200 top executives warned Friday it would call for a nationwide economic shutdown if the government refuses to comply with a High Court order suspending the dismissal of Shin Bet director Ronen Bar.
The Business Forum, a prominent collective of senior figures in Israel’s private sector, said in a statement that disregarding the court’s injunction would amount to a constitutional crisis.
“If the Israeli government does not respect the order and pushes the country into a constitutional breakdown, we will urge the public to stop recognizing government decisions in their entirety—and halt the Israeli economy,” the group said.
The forum also issued a direct appeal to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urging him to reverse course. “Stop the internal deterioration of the country that you are leading,” the statement read.
