The spiritual leader of the Druze community in Israel, Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif, spoke to ynetnews on Sunday about the visit of Druze religious leaders from Syria to Israel. "It was a historic and moving day," he said. "The entire community has been waiting for this for decades—both here and there. They faced enormous pressure not to come, from various anti-Israel elements."
Sheikh Tarif added that the Druze community expects Israel to protect Druze in Syria, emphasizing that "there is no chance the Druze will leave Syria or go anywhere else. If something happens, they will fight or die where they are."
