Beryl strengthens into hurricane as it nears Texas

The deadly storm Beryl strengthened into a hurricane as it neared the Texas coast near Houston, the National Hurricane Center said. Beryl was about 105 miles (170 km) east of the city of Corpus Christi, packing maximum sustained winds of 75 mph (120 kph).
