In the past day, the Israel Defense Forces began fighting significant forces inside the Shati refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip. As part of the operation, the forces uncovered terrorist infrastructure and eliminated terrorists. In one of the battles, combat team fighters of the Givati Brigade identified a civilian population in the terrorists' building. The forces allowed the citizens to evacuate through a secure route. During the evacuation, terrorists fired at the IDF forces that secured the Gaza civilians. The soldiers responded with light gunfire and tank fire to protect the evacuation axis and eliminated the terrorists. In another encounter, the soliders identified a terrorist squad that had barricaded itself in a house in a neighborhood in the camp, and posed a threat to the troops. The soldiers eliminated the terrorists by shooting and directing air force aircraft.
