Israeli forces clashed with gunmen in southern Syria overnight during an operation to destroy weapons and terrorist infrastructure, the military said Thursday morning.
Troops from the IDF’s 474th Brigade came under fire and responded with ground and air strikes, killing several gunmen, according to the IDF. No Israeli casualties were reported.
Syrian state media earlier reported that 10 people were killed in the clashes near the city of Nawa in Daraa province, describing the exchange as unusually intense and involving tank fire and airstrikes.
