After 22 years of leading deadly attacks on Israel, Hamas terrorist killed

Taysir Mubasher, responsible for the murder of five students at the Atzmona pre-military program and other deadly attacks, was assassinated in the Gaza Strip in a joint IDF-Shin Bet operation
The commander of the northern Khan Yunis sector of Hamas, Taysir Mubasher, who for over more than two decades has led murderous attacks against IDF soldiers and Israeli citizens, was assassinated in a joint operation by the IDF and Shin Bet, the two bodies announced. Mubasher was close to the leaders of the terrorist organization, including Mohammed Deif, the supreme commander of the military wing of Hamas.

A joint announcement by the IDF and the Shin Bet stated that Mubasher the assassination was "directed by accurate intelligence information from the IDF and the Shin Bet." In Operation Breaking Dawn in 2022, warplanes attacked Mubasher 's house in Khan Yunis, but he survived. Since the beginning of the war with Hamas, about 300 rockets and mortar bombs have been fired from the area north of Khan Yunis toward Israel.

Mubasher was previously the commander of Hamas' naval forces and held several positions in weapons manufacturing.
"Mubasher has extensive experience in the military and as a commander, directing terror attacks, and he is a relative to senior Hamas operatives, including Mohammed Deif, the supreme commander of the military wing of Hamas," the statement said.
Mubasher was responsible for several murderous attacks over the years, including the attack on the Atzmona pre-military academy in Gush Katif in March 2002, in which five of the students of the preparatory school were murdered and many others were injured. In the attack, a terrorist penetrated the double fence at night and opened fire at a dormintory where the students of the pre-military seminary were studying Torah. For several minutes, the terrorist threw grenades, killing Eran Picard, Ariel Zana, Asher Marcus, Tal Kurzweil and Arik Krogliak, all age 18. The terrorist was killed at the end of a shootout with residents and soldiers.

According to intelligence information, Mubasher also produced the explosive material that blew up a terror tunnel beneath the Orhan outpost near the Gush Katif junction June 2004, killing IDF soldier Sgt. Roi Nissim and injuring others. The investigation of the attack revealed that for weeks the terrorists dug a tunnel under the outpost and inserted dozens of kilograms of explosives into it. Nissim's sister, Rotem, in a post about two weeks ago on a memory page for her brother wrote: "Your account will also be closed. Hamas will be eliminated."

Mubashar also directed the attack on the Vered outpost in June 2003, and was involved in the terrorist infiltration of the Zikim beaches in the "Operation Protective Edge. Five Hamas commandos who infiltrated from Gaza at the time to carry out an attack on a nearby kibbutz were eliminated.
