Around 2,000 Syrian troops cross to Iraq, seek refuge, Iraqi mayor says

Around 2,000 Syrian troops have crossed the border into Iraq and sought refuge, Turki Al-Mahlawi, the mayor of the border town Al-Qaim, told Reuters on Saturday.
Some of the troops were wounded and are currently receiving medical treatment, he added.
Earlier, the Iraqi state news agency reported that more than 1,000 Syrian army soldiers crossed to Iraq on Saturday.
