The government submitted to the Supreme Court its response to petitions against the dismissal of Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar, claiming that Bar's continued service in office would be "an irreversible harm to the security of the state." The government's response stated: "Forcing him to continue in office is unacceptable and is not consistent with the powers granted to an elected government in a democratic country that believes in the security of the state and its citizens. Every additional day or night in this situation could cause irreversible harm to the security of the state and the peace of its citizens and soldiers. Hence the urgency in carrying out the move."
