Prime Minister Yair Lapid and Palestinian Minister Mahmoud Abbas spoke on Friday morning about the "continuation of cooperation, and need to ensure peace," said Lapid.
This is the first conversation between the two since Lapid entered premiership after the Knesset dissolved.
This is also the first discussion between the Abbas and the Israeli prime minister in the last 10 years, aside from those in light of terror attacks.
Abbas also congratulated Lapid on his new role.
