President Donald Trump claimed Monday that U.S. military strikes have severely weakened Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels and warned that attacks would intensify if the group continues targeting American ships.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said, “The Iran-backed Houthi Terrorists have been decimated by the relentless strikes over the past two weeks. Many of their Fighters and Leaders are no longer with us.” He added that U.S. forces are hitting Houthi targets “every day and night — harder and harder,” and said their capabilities threatening regional shipping are “rapidly being destroyed.”
“Our attacks will continue until they are no longer a threat to Freedom of Navigation,” Trump wrote. “The choice for the Houthis is clear: Stop shooting at U.S. ships, and we will stop shooting at you.”
He concluded with a pointed warning: “Otherwise, we have only just begun, and the real pain is yet to come — for both the Houthis and their sponsors in Iran.”
