U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, told families of Israeli hostages that a major deal to secure their release is nearing completion, describing it as “a very serious deal on the table—it’s a matter of days,” according to people present at the meeting.
Witkoff’s remarks come amid growing U.S. pressure to shift toward a broader resolution to the war in Gaza.
According to diplomatic sources, Trump has given Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu only a few more weeks to continue military operations before calling for a ceasefire and a comprehensive agreement.
