Hamas rejects mediator's proposal: 'First Israel ceases fire and withdraws from Gaza'

Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) reiterated that Israel must halt its Gaza offensive and withdraw from the Strip before any prisoner exchange takes place, Hamas said in a statement on Monday. The PFLP is the second major faction of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) after President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement. It joined the fighting against Israel following Hamas' October 7 attack. Hamas said in a statement that "Israel must stop the attacks and withdraw from the Gaza Strip" before any discussion of a deal. (Reuters)
