In times of crisis, diplomacy plays a pivotal role in shaping global outcomes and guiding the course of history. Traditionally dominated by men, the field has seen significant strides toward gender equality, with women assuming increasingly influential roles. This evolution is not just about representation; it is a strategic imperative, as women bring unique perspectives and skills crucial for navigating complex crises.
Recently, The Center for Jewish Impact co-hosted a special diplomatic salon with the Canadian Embassy in Israel, focusing on Women in Diplomacy During Times of Crisis. Women's leadership in times of crisis extends far beyond diplomacy, encompassing various fields. They excel in fostering dialogue and building bridges, emphasizing collaboration and consensus-building even in polarized environments. Research consistently shows that this approach is particularly effective in conflict resolution and crisis management, where trust, empathy and inclusivity are as critical as policy expertise.
Moreover, women in leadership positions champion marginalized voices and advocate for humanitarian concerns, promoting inclusive solutions that address the diverse needs of affected parties. By amplifying these voices, they enhance the credibility of crisis responses and contribute to sustainable and resilient outcomes.
Beyond crisis management, women have played pivotal roles in sectors critical to societal recovery and resilience following events like the October 7 Massacre and subsequent conflicts. In NGOs, women leaders have mobilized resources, delivered aid, and facilitated long-term recovery efforts amidst the aftermath of war.

Furthermore, women's voluntary efforts in community engagement and grassroots initiatives have provided crucial support during crises. Their advocacy, education, and outreach efforts, including initiatives like HASBARA, have fostered understanding and dialogue locally and internationally, contributing to reconciliation and rebuilding efforts.
To sustain and amplify the impact of women's leadership during and after crises, it is essential to support gender parity in leadership across all sectors. Governments and organizations must ensure equal access to education, professional development, and inclusive work environments that empower women to lead efforts toward lasting peace and stability.
Mentorship programs are crucial in nurturing talent and resilience among women leaders, fostering a supportive ecosystem for sustainable change.
