Civil Service Commission will stop using feminine language in tenders: 'cumbersome, difficult'

Civil Service Commissioner Daniel Hershkovitz ordered a halt to the use of feminine language in official tenders. The commission said that the decision is based on the policy of the Hebrew Language Academy, according to which "the masculine form is also the casual form, which is used when there is no need to distinguish gender." In addition, the academy believes that specifying multiple genders with a slash is "cumbersome and may make reading difficult." He added that at the beginning of each document a note will appear clarifying that the use of this language is done for reasons of language integrity, and the reference is to both women and men.
