US media are reporting that Egypt's Rafah crossing will be opened at 9:00 a.m. for a few hours. A security source told the ABC network that an agreement was reached to open the crossing to accommodate the exit of foreign citizens from the Gaza Strip to Egypt, as well as for the transfer of humanitarian aid to the strip. ABC's report did not specify the exact opening hours. At the Egyptian border, a convoy of trucks with aid to the Gaza Strip is waiting and, according to the UN secretary general, the supplies can enter in just a few hours - as long as the safety of the crews is guaranteed. Egypt has so far refrained from opening the crossing, partly due to the fear that masses of Gazans will try to escape through it into Egyptian territory. (Ynet)
