The Knesset's winter session opened after a three-month recess; the main issues to be addressed are a law exempting the ultra-Orthodox from IDF conscription, and approval of the state budget. Upon entering the plenum, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said that recruiting the ultra-Orthodox "is not a political matter, but a security and moral matter. The situation is acute, we have more wounded and more fallen. We need more soldiers and more fighters."
