A released IDF soldier crossed into the Gaza Strip buffer zone last week and was spotted by female observers as he attempted to enter Israeli territory while shouting "Allahu Akbar." A force from the Netzah Yehuda battalion was dispatched to the scene, carried out a suspicious arrest procedure and shot the fighter in the leg. He was taken in a minor condition to receive medical treatment at Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon, where it was discovered that he was suffering from mental distress and had attempted to commit suicide.
