The Qatari newspaper Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reports that Egypt informed Israel and Iran that it would not be part of the latest "escalation process," and would continue its efforts to reduce tensions in the region. According to the report, Cairo told Tehran that it is committed to closing its airspace in the face of any "military action" that threatens the situation in the region, and stressed that this does not amount to hostile behavior toward Iran, but is intended to protect Egypt's interests and sovereignty. However, the report also claims that Cairo informed the Israeli delegation that visited Cairo on Saturday that "it will not be part of a military delegation that will participate in repelling the possible attack against Israel."
