Palestinian leader Abbas names interim successor in case of death

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, 89, announced on Wednesday that if he dies, National Council Chairman Rawhi Fattouh will assume his role for 90 days until elections are held.
Fattouh previously served as interim president following Yasser Arafat’s death in November 2004.
