Italy welcomes the announcement of a cease-fire in Lebanon, a goal for which the Italian government had been working for a long time, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said in a statement on Wednesday. A cease-fire between Israel and Iran-backed group Hezbollah came into effect on Wednesday after both sides accepted an agreement brokered by the U.S. and France.
