Defense Minister Israel Katz examined the possibility of lowering the number of conscription orders for the ultra-Orthodox, and the attorney general forbade it, Ynet learned, after Katz announced on Friday that he would send 7,000 draft notices in accordance with the decision of his predecessor, Yoav Gallant. United Torah Judaism and Likud officials who were involved in Katz's announcement claimed that the minister intended to reduce the number of orders, and when he realized that he had no ability to do, he published that 7,000 orders would be issued. Some 1,000 of the orders were issued Sunday.
