Justice Minister Gideon Saar said Monday that the bill prohibiting a criminal defendant from forming a government is "essential to our regime," referring to Benjamin Netanyahu's indictment on a verity of offenses, including bribery and breach of trust.
"I would like to mention that in 2008 I, Netanyahu, and the rest of the Likud faction were in favor of ousting an indicted prime minister during Ehud Olmert's tenure. This proves that the [Likud's] opposition to the law is personal," added Saar.
