UN General Assembly votes to support UNRWA, calls for Gaza cease-fire

The UN General Assembly passed two resolutions overnight Thursday with overwhelming support: one backing UNRWA, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, and another calling for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza without conditioning it on the release of hostages held by Hamas.
The resolution on UNRWA, which urges Israel to respect the agency's mandate and allow its operations without restriction, passed with 159 votes in favor and nine against. The cease-fire resolution passed with 158 votes in favor and seven against.
Israel’s UN Ambassador Danny Danon condemned the decisions, saying, "Standing with UNRWA is standing with Hamas. By approving these resolutions, you abandon the hostages and choose to collaborate with a terrorist organization."
