The U.S. Transportation Department has approved Israeli airline Israir's application to operate flights to the United States, according to an order issued late Friday.
The temporary two-year permit allows Israir to seek to demonstrate compliance with the Federal Aviation Administration and Transportation Security Administration regulatory requirements, the airline said, adding it expects final approval by June. Israir plans to fly its own fleet of Airbus A330 aircraft on the Tel Aviv-New York route.
