The IDF said Sunday evening that a rocket salvo toward central Israel earlier was fired from a civilian area in Gaza's Rafah.
"Hamas terrorists launched eight rockets from Rafah, approximately 800 meters from an IDF force operating in the area. As IDF forces approached, Hamas emptied the ammunition they had and launched the rockets from within a civilian population," IDF Spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari told a press briefing.
"We observe this pattern of behavior in many places where we operate. The launch was carried out between a mosque and a school. We attacked and destroyed the launcher shortly after the launch, and our forces continue to operate in the area."
