U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday blamed his predecessor Joe Biden for the war between Russia and Ukraine, calling it “Biden’s war, not mine,” and asserting that he would have prevented the conflict had he remained in office.
“I just got here, and for four years during my term, had no problem in preventing it from happening,” Trump wrote on his social media platform. “President Putin, and everyone else, respected your President!”
Trump claimed he had “nothing to do with this war” but was working to stop “the death and destruction.” He repeated false claims that the 2020 election was rigged, arguing the war “would never have happened” had he won a second term.
“President Zelenskyy and Crooked Joe Biden did an absolutely horrible job in allowing this travesty to begin,” Trump added. “Now we have to get it to STOP, AND FAST. SO SAD!”
