The Supreme Court on Thursday declined the government’s request to expedite proceedings concerning the dismissal of Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar, which alleged that him remaining in the position poses a "security risk" for the state. In a statement, the justices noted that the government’s petition was based on media reports, which they emphasized cannot serve as the foundation for judicial decisions. They further clarified that any forthcoming decisions would be based on affidavits expected to be submitted in the coming days. The court also dismissed claims that the government’s security authority had been undermined, stating, “There is no basis for the argument that the government’s powers in the security domain have been usurped.”
