Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused on Sunday the United States and Israel of attempting to drag Tehran into "continuous crises" in the wake of the collapse of Bashar Assad’s regime.
In an interview with Iranian television, Araghchi admitted Iran was caught off guard by “the incompetence of the Syrian army and the speed of developments” and criticized the Assad regime for failing to properly assess its military’s condition. He added that Iran now supports the Syrian people's will through democratic mechanisms.
