The head of Israel's social workers union, Inbal Hermoni, says that the coronavirus pandemic is expected to lead to a 100% increase in requests for social service.
"With the spread of the coronavirus, we expect that as unemployment increases, there will be suicides, overcrowded hospitals and similar, and as a result a more than 100% increase in requests to social services," Hermoni told the State Audit Committee.
"We are currently facing a 70% increase in inquiries," she said.
