A Turkish court sentenced on Tuesday nine anti-Israel protesters to prison after they disrupted President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's speech in Istanbul last week.
The protesters accused the government of continuing to export oil to Israel despite a supposed embargo and shouted slogans like "Our ships carry bombs to Israel" and "Stop fueling genocide."
They were convicted of insulting the president and participating in an illegal protest.
Erdoğan responded to the protesters by saying, "Don't become a mouthpiece for Zionists. Your provocations will not succeed."
