COVID-19 booster shots reduce hospitalizations by 93%, serious illness by 92% and mortality by 81%, a joint study by the Clalit Research Institute and Harvard University published in medical journal Lancet on Saturday showed.
The study was conducted between July 30 and September 23 and compared 728,321 Clalit patients who received a third vaccine dose, and the same number of patients who received only two doses about five months earlier.
Founding Director of the Clalit Research Institute and senior advisor to the government Prof. Ran Balicer said that "the results convincingly demonstrate that the third dose of the vaccine is highly effective."
