Italy on Saturday announced the suspension of its financial support for UNRWA, joining the United States, Canada and Australia in a similar move, following an investigation into suspicions that employees of the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees were involved in the October 7 attack.
“The Italian government has suspended funding for @UNRWA after the atrocious attack by Hamas against Israel on October 7,” Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani wrote on X. “Allied countries have recently made the same decision. We are committed to humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian population, protecting Israel's security.”
