'American Jewry distanced itself from Israel, the war changed everything'

The head of the Diaspora Department at the World Zionist Organization, Nerya Meir, spoke at the National Resurgence and Resilience Conference of Ynet and Yediot Ahronoth about the transformations that took place in U.S. Jews following Hamas attack against Israel on October 7. "I draw optimism from the issue of the attitude of U.S. Jewry toward Israel," Meir noted. They just got further and further away from the issue of Israel, and suddenly the war came and changed everything. Until the war, 45% of all U.S. Jews had some kind of concern for Israel, in the sense of caring. Data published by the Conference of Presidents of American Jewish organizations about two weeks ago already show 80% support for Israel." (Yair Kraus)
