Hamas spokesman Abd al-Latif al-Qanou said the terrorist organization has discussed the proposal put forth by U.S. President Donald Trump's envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, as well as several other ideas with mediators. He noted that talks have not ceased in efforts to "finalize a ceasefire agreement."
"We are open to any arrangement concerning the administration of Gaza that is agreed upon, and we do not wish to be part of it," the spokesman said. "We have no desire to govern Gaza. Our focus is on national consensus."
Regarding the Trump administration, he added: "It must not become a party to the war, but rather should pressure Israel to return to the agreement."
