Senate overwhelmingly rejects Sanders' proposals to halt arms transfers to Israel

The U.S. Senate voted overwhelmingly to reject three proposals from Senator Bernie Sanders aimed at halting arms transfers to Israel amid its ongoing war in Gaza on Wednesday.
The first proposal, which sought to block the transfer of tank shells, was opposed by 79 senators, with 18 voting in favor. The second, targeting mortar shell shipments, was rejected 78-10. The third, which proposed halting the transfer of JDAM kits that convert standard bombs into precision-guided munitions, failed with 80 opposing and 17 supporting.
All senators voting in favor were Democrats. The Biden administration opposed the measures in a letter to senators ahead of the vote.
