Seven people were killed in an airstrike targeting a building near the military airport in the al-Mazzeh area of Damascus, according to Syrian reports on Friday.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a London-based opposition war monitor, said the strike hit a residential complex known as al-Zahriyat, a military housing area in the upscale al-Mazzeh neighborhood.
Syrian air defenses at the airport were reportedly activated in an attempt to intercept the attack. Further details about the identities of the victims or the source of the strike were not immediately available.
